About the
Artist
I was born in
1969, Stoke On Trent, England, clutching a pencil in my chubby little hand (much
to the discomfort of my mother) and from that day onwards I have spent many a
happy hour creating art.
During my
early teens I became fascinated with the human face and decided that I
would become a portrait artist when I left school but, like many before me, real
life intervened and there came the need to get a real job.
I
secured a position at 'Royal Worcester Spode' a world renowned pottery
manufacturers and over the next 23 years I received several promotions and
forged a career as the Production Manager/Prestige Manager for the company,
managing, at it's peak, eight departments and a workforce of over a hundred
people.
It was during this time that my relationship with caricature art began and
the noticeboards at work became galleries for my cartoons and caricatures of
friends and colleagues. Everyone loved them, people wanted to see more and more
of them. For me caricature couples my love for portraits with my love for humour
and it was this that finally prompted me to look at Caricature Art as something
that I wanted to pursue as a career
Artists such as Jan Op De Beeck, Sebastian Krueger and Jason Seiler, to name
but a few, show the ability and level that can be achieved this gives me the
incentive to push myself harder. Constantly seeking to learn and develop new
skills from the wealth of artists and information available. Something that I
will continue to do as long as I have the capacity to draw.
As for you, I
hope that you like my art, these caricatures may even raise a smile or better
still make you laugh out loud... you may even want to purchase a caricature of your very own. But,
as long as you enjoy them, that's my job done.
